To support a collaborative and inclusive project involving adults with developmental disabilities and professional artists with Theatre SKAM. The project will explore choral puppetry work as its primary aesthetic – puppets that require two or more puppeteers to operate. This ensemble approach creates an environment of safety and support for performers with developmental disabilities who are to a theatre process.

art projectRaising the Curtain: on the lived experience of dementia

$29,000 Award

To assist with phase two of a three-phase project that combines community-engaged arts practice to engage participants with lived experience of early-stage dementia in the development, creation and productions of an interdisciplinary program that tells their collective story. The organization is partnering with the professional performing arts organization, Deer Crossing the Art Farm Society.

We selected simple imagery (icons) inspired by quotes focused on “Belonging and Inclusion” and developed postcard sized cards for the community to paint as they saw fit.

To build the capacity of multi-barrier youth through media arts training that will transform their lives and their communities. It is a free after-school program for youth between the ages of 13 and 18.

To assist with the development and production of a play, King Arthur’s Night, by the Neworld Theatre Society in collaboration with the Down Syndrome Research Foundation. The production features an equally integrated cast of actors whose lives include Down Syndrome and actors whose lives do not.
